The welt is the leather strip that holds Goodyear welted footwear together; sewn to the upper and insole to create a very strong and water resistant construction, with the ability to be resoled without affecting the uppers.
After several resoles or a bad repair, the welt can become damaged and require replacement.
We do this in the traditional manner - by hand, with high grade leather welting and utilising the saddle stitch.
This is regarded as the strongest of stitch types, superior to the lock stitch done by factory machine welting.
Please contact us if you’re unsure as to whether your footwear requires this.
